Reading FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
Many people had Reading tipped for automatic promotion. I myself had them as a play off push, but after starting the season win just two points from the first five games, those predicitons seemed a long way away. Their form did improve throughout but any late run for the top 6 failed to materialise when they drew two and lost four of their last six games eventually stumbling into 12th position.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
One thing I always take into account when predicting the season ahead is the transfer activity. Doesn't always work out the way you expect as we saw with Liverpool last season but more of then than not you can get a good idea.
It's very noticable that Reading haven't lost anyone they would want to keep and have added three solid signings in Jacob Brown, Udoka Godwin-Malife and perhaps most excitingly, Kyreece Lisbie. Kyreece had a lot of goal involvements at Colchester last season and even though he's making a step up, I think he could thrive.
Court Offside Tip
Throughout my 20's Reading were Premier League material and now I'm writing about how I expect them to finish 12th in League One. They have the infrastructure to be much higher up but right now stability is just as important. They're 3/1 to finish in the top 6 and only 6/1 to be relegated. Halfway house.
