Liverpool FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
Hands down, the best summer transfer window of all teams. Right? We all thought so. Wirtz. Frimpong. Ekitike. Isak. Kerkez. 5 top draw players in addition to a squad that just won the Premier League. 99% of us thought they'd go on and win the league again. If you didn't, you probably have some level of bias towards the team you predicted. The season kicks off with seven straight wins in all competitions, a run that included victories over Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle and Atletico Madrid. You just wouldn't believe it was all about to fall apart for Arnie Slot's men. But it did. Six defeats in the next seven followed and by the end of November the Reds were twelfth!
They eventually pulled some results out and scraped their way into 5th position, but it wasn't enough to stop Slot getting the sack.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
After a pretty poor 25/26 they'll be hoping to realloy kick on in the new campaign. If Isak and Wirtz sort themselves out there's no doubt they have the talent to challenge for the title.
In the transfer market, obviously Mo Salah and Andy Robertson reached the ends of their contracts and were released but it will be disappointing to have lost Konate on a free to Real Madrid. The arrivals of Jacquet and Munoz for a combined £90m along with the loan signing of Ronald Araujo from Barcelona certainly help the efforts to fill the voids.
Court Offside Tip
I've got Liverpool down to finish 4th this season but of the chasing pack I think they could be the most likely to actually spring a surprise and challenge. At 5/1 to life the trophy, there's defintely some value there because if they get off to a good start the cash out will start to look very nice as those odds shoot down.
