Middlesbrough FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
A strange season all round at the Riverside. They were top 3 for most of the campaign and sat second at the end of March, but a poor run of form saw them just about scrape into the play off picture in the end. We all know what happened after that. SPYGATE! Boro were playing the hockey cokey of football as they were out, then they were back in, then they lost to Hull and were out again.
Concentrating on the final after all that had gone before it, and with very little time to prepare was always going to be tough.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
Kim Hellberg has lots to do in order to prep his side for the new campaign. Spy gate is still talked about regularly and I'm sure the club would like to just move on from something they had no control over.
The losses of Dael Fry and Hayden Hackney will hit the club hard. However, the arrivals of Jeremy Sarmiento on a permanent transfer after last seasons loan spell and Kyle Joseph go a long way towards softening the blow. Add in the £11.7m transfer of Will Lankshear from Spurs and it could be set up for an exciting season once again at the Riverside.
Court Offside Tip

2/5 is terrible odds. I get it. But I don't think they have quite enough to dislodge either West Ham or Wolves so they have to settle for third. Annoyingly, the bookies think similar and really aren't offering up much value on them appearing in the top 8 come May. The option here is to wait for a few weeks and see if they get off to a poor start. Even 3 or 4 games in you'll see odds movements in these markets.
