Crewe Alexandra FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

The Railway Men had pre-season title odds of 25/1 and when they led the table after the first 4 games bookies must've been wondering if they'd been caught out. However, despite never falling into the bottom half, Crewe only troubled the top 7 again on two occasions throughout the season.

They averaged 10th and finished 11th with the worst goal difference of any of the top 12. Some will look at the season as a successful one given the pre-season lack of optimism.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

6ft centre back Luke Offord has arrived at Gresty Road for the new season and whilst he's a solid singing, he'll need some support. 11 players have left the club since the season finished and without 5 or 6 more signings coming through door, Alex are going to be heavily reliant on youth.

They have always had a good youth system, but it could be severely tested throughout 2026/27. It could go badly wrong.

Court Offside Tip

Another mid table finish is expected at Gresty Road this season. I have them down to finish 14th and the bookies are saying they'll be as far away from the play of mix as they will be the relegation zone so we're pretty much in line with eachother there. I can't see a good bet here yet so may have to re-evaluate at Christmas.
