Derby County FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

A solid season all round from the Rams. As the first balls were kicked back in August, most people seemed to be expecting a relatively tough year and pre-season odds of 33/1 for the title suggested the bookies weren't foreseeing any sort of promotion push. John Eustace has put together a solid team at Pride Park though and after 5 wins on the bounce, they club found themselves 8th at the end of November.

They lacked enough consistency to force their way into the top six though and after losing four of their last seven, they missed out on the play offs by 4 points. What could have been.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

There's a positive vibe around County right now. Saudi billionaire Turki Alalshikh is apparently in talks to buy the club and it's easy to understand what talks of this nature can do for the fans and club as a whole.

Bobby Clark has signed on a permanent deal for £8m from Salzburg and he was swiftly followed through the door by Filip Bibija, a left winger from Paderborn. The 26 year old is definitely one to watch in the Championship.

Court Offside Tip

This may end up being mongst my poorest selections but there's just something I like about County for this season. I sort of expected the odds to be a lot less than they were considering the way they finished last season and the additional two play off spots available this campaign. 9/4 on a top 8 finish was one of my favourite picks from all 92 clubs.
