Luton Town FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

Pre season favourites with the bookmakers at just 7/2. It was easy to see why though. Back to back relegations but they still had a very decent squad on their books. By mid October however, they found themselves in 15th position and decided to make a managerial change, ousting Matt Bloomfield and bringing in inexperienced Jack Wilshere. But it almost turned into a master stroke. The Hatters soon found form and despite finishing 7th, they went unbeaten in their last eleven games and only actually missed out on the play offs due to a last ditch goal from Stevenage.

The season was still a success however after Town lifted the EFL Trophy, beating Stockport 3-1 in the final at Wembley.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

There's no doubt that Luton have ambitions to head back up to the Championship and when you see their transfer work you have to admit, they're going to take some stopping.

Despite losing Christ Makosso to Auxerre in a deal that bagged the club in excess of £2m, things are looking good. Gideon Kodua and Kasey Palmer have arrived on permanent deals and the loan signing of Harrison Ashby from Newcastle is very good business.

Court Offside Tip

I was so close to having Luton upset the applecart and steal a place in the top two this season. In the end I've made them settle for 3rd but I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see them in either 1st or 2nd position come May. Wilshere has them playing good football and they've signed some excellent players for the forthcoming campaign. 4/7 on top 7 is still good value.
