Everton FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

With David Moyes back at the wheel, Everton are a completely different prospect. The new stadium hasn't affected on field performances as much as leaving Goodison Park could have and after finishing a very steady 13th, just 4 points off the European places, you'd think the fans would be elated. Given their recent relegation battles. Some people have short memories unfortunately and it was truly embarrassing to hear a number of their fans calling for him to go because of 'boring football'.

West Ham hounded him out for similar reasons. That worked well didn't it...

Looking ahead to 2026/27

Fortunately, it doesn't appear that the idiots calling for Moyes to go have been listened to. What does a successful season at the HD look like this time out? Surely it's just 'progress'. Right? 13th last time, 12th or above this time. That's what Moyes builds.

Good signs thus far in the transfer market. Additions of Merlin Rohl from Frankfurt, Tyrique George from Chelsea and Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough are all solid acquisitions, with Hackney arguably the pick of the bunch and at just £17m you have to say, he looks to be a bargain.

Court Offside Tip

I've got Everton in a solid 11th position and providing the fans get off Moyes back, I can see them having a really good season, maybe even challenging in the cups too. They're 6/5 to finish in the top half and despite my prediction I don't think this represents bad value as there's a cluster of teams that will all be pretty tightly bunched in the middle there.
