Charlton Athletic FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

Third favourites for relegation as the first balls were kicked in August, the Addicks were proving many doubters wrong as they sat in sixth position in early November. However, a slump in form was to come and after just one win in eleven games, they had fallen to 19th by the turn of the new year.

They ended up finishing 19th, six points clear of relegation and though I'm sure times will have been worrying for the fans, they always seemed to collect points when it looked like they could actually get dragged into it.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

Second season syndrome at The Valley? We'll see. They did a little more than just survive last timw out but if they manage to avoid the drop this campaign, it'll probably be a much closer run thing.

Looking at the transfer activity Karlan Grant and Ivan Mesik head the list and neither fill you with excitement. One or two more may be required in order to boost morale ahead of a potentially rough season.

Court Offside Tip

There's no doubt that they'll be in the relegation mix again this season and whilst nobody wants to finish as low as 21st, if they do, they'll get another season in the Championship and when you start as one of the favourites to go down, you'll take just avoiding it. The bookies have them priced up at 11/8 to go down. One to watch for now.
