Coventry City FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
What a season from the Sky Blues. A far cry from the days of League Two, playing their home games at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium. Frank Lampard has done things a large proportion of fans and pundits didn't believe he could and after climbing to the top of the league in early October, they only spent one game week out of that position for the rest of the campaign.
They end up with a plus 52 goal difference, scoring the most and conceding the least, eventually winning the league by an impressive eleven points. They exited both cup competitions at the first time of asking leaving them free to concentrate on the league. It worked.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
Ok, so the easy bit has been done. Now the work really starts for Frank Lampard and co. It's going to take one hell of an effort to stay in the division this season but it's not a task I see as being beyond them.
I don't like to see newly promoted teams splashing too much cash but they absolutely have to add to the squad. And they're doing so nicely. Aurele Amenda arrives for £15m from Frankfurt after an impressive last campaign and Loum Tchaouna has been brought in from Burnley as cover on the right wing. There's clearly a need to add 2 or 3 more before the window closes but I think things are looking good at the CBS.
Court Offside Tip

4/6 on City to be relegated wasn't exactly surprising odds to see but I can understand why some think it's short. They've bought well and look very confident playing under Lampard. I just feel that if things start going wrong early in the season, the lack of experience at this level will tell.
