Reviewing 2025/26

Almost every season Newport are one of the favourites to go down and yet they continue to prove people wrong. However, last season almost got them and it took a monumental effort, winning 3 of the last 4 games to stay up by the skin of their teeth. For large parts of the final day they were still in the relegation zone but after 2 late goals gave them victory at already relegated Barrow, The Exiles live to fight another season.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

Expectations are always for County to battle bravely against relegation and somehow they keep managing it. When you look at the strength in League Two this season though, it might take something a bit more than hoping for two sides to be worse than them,

In the transfer market they've lost Bobby Kamwa and Matthew Baker but picked up a couple of reasonable signings too. Christian Doidge may be 33 now, but he can still score goals and think Newport's style of play might suit him down to the ground.

Court Offside Tip

Only two go down which makes it tougher to predict relegation bets but it also improves odds and in this case, I thought Newport to be relegated at 2/1 was wonderful value. Apologies to the County faithful but I think their stay in League Two comes to an end this season.
