Bristol City FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

A strange season at Ashton Gate. Pre season odds of 22/1 suggest a mid table outing with a potential play off push if things go well or a flirt with the bottom three if they don't. After a strong start, performances tailed off and when they slipped to sixteenth the board acted by sacking manager Gerhard Struber and replacing him with 78 year old legend, Roy Hodgson.

They came to rest in 12th position with Roy winning three of his seven games in charge. Scott Twine's 18 goal contributions was an excellent return for any player in the Championship, especially in a team that aren't challenging for honours.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

It's intersting to see that nobody is talking about the Robins. at 50/1 for the title I think there is definitely value to be had given how ambitious they appear to be in the transfer market this summer.

City have spent in excess of £10m since the transfer window opened, bringing in striker Lorent Tolaj for almost £5m from Plymouth as well as Lisav Naif Eissat and Sam Greenwood, who both join for around £2.5m from Maccabi Haifa and Pogon SzcZecin respectively.

Court Offside Tip

Bit of a boring prediction for the Robins I'm afraid. 12th last season and I think they finish 12th again. They've signed a couple of good players and look to have a strong club base so there is an argument to suggest they could push on higher but I'm comfortable with my prediction for now. I'll re-assess the betting options in January.
