Accrington Stanley FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
Second favourites for relegation back in August 2025, Accrington were bottom after 6 game weeks, then threw in a very good patch of form over Christmas and New Year to find themselves in 12th by mid February.
However, they then won just one of their final fifteen games and eventually finished sixteenth, 14 points clear of relegation. A stat that shows how bad some of the other teams were below them rather than how good Stanley were. Paddy Madden spent the season on loan at the Crown Ground and was top scorer. After his return to Chesterfield they'll need to replace his goals.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
It's often a sign on things to come when you see the official website talking about numbers of season tickets sold being down on what was expected and hoped. This probably means they're well down as well. A club like Accrington relies on strong season ticket sales so that they can plan for the season rather than week to week.
Summer transfer deals have been reasonably positive though with goalkeepr Louie Moulden joining from Norwich on a season long loan as well as permanent aquisitions of centre back Joe Anderson and veterans Cole Stockton and David Tutonda. Will they be enough though? There's a long way to go before the transfer window closes and that makes predictions like this very difficult but my gut feeling is that they need 4 or 5 more players in through the door. Otherwise last season's second half collapse could be replicatedon a full season basis.
Court Offside Tip

I think 7/2 represents very good value for a team that will no doubt be involved in the fight against relegation and given the gradual ecline of recent seasons, this could be the time to have a punt on the drop.
