Oldham Athletic AFC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
The Latics started the season with odds of 22/1 and pretty much played up to those expectations with a lowest league position of 19th and a highest of 8th. However, they ended the season with just one win from their last six games. Had they won five of those instead, they could've sneaked into the top 7, such was the closeness of the division. All in all you have to say it was a good first season back in the EFL.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
The most exciting signing that the Latics have made so far this summer has to be Gus Scott-Morriss. He's been top scorer at Southend for 2 of the last 3 seasons. From right back! And we're taking 6 or 7 goals. He scored 30 goals across just two campaigns and in total picked up 44 goals in his time with the Shrimpers.
Add him to a list of other steady signings and I think Oldham fans will be looking upwards rather than over their shoulders this season. The bookies have them to finish a steady mid table and whilst that doesn't sound positive, you have to remember this is only their second season back in the 92.
Court Offside Tip
After a very solid first season back in League football, I expect them to have another. Back to back 10th place finishes I'm going for. I don't see them troubling the play offs and expect them to be well clear of the relegation so finiding anything to be on is quite difficult. The season match bet has them up against Rochdale and at 8/15 I think that is pretty reasonable value.
